During 2021, building on my studies at Amani Institute, I was invited to co-lead an Interest-Based Circle within the Amani Network alongside Eva-Maria Spreitzer, a Social Innovation and Futures Researcher. Eva-Maria had been leading this initiative with a focus on research in and for social innovation. She envisioned it, metaphorically, as "an ongoing extension of the Amani Institute’s Social Innovation curriculum, aimed at fostering action confidence and creating meaningful, inspirational dialogue around both social innovation research and research on social innovation."
Our work focused on exploring and examining various social innovation methods and tools to inspire the Amani Institute community. We aimed to offer diverse approaches and methodologies to effectively practice and transform social innovation. As Amani alumni, our shared mission was to bridge the impact gap between the roles and effects of research and methodology on one side, and practice and strategy on the other. We did this by organizing webinars for learning, experience-sharing, and fostering community exchange.
In December 2021, we partnered with research incubator Includovate and hosted an online global learning session on practicing inclusive research approaches for more equitable social innovation: What is the role of inclusive research for social innovation? In which sense does inclusion contribute to decolonizing research, especially in the development sector?

Watch the video for a recap highlighting the key insights from the event.
